I am
thrilled to take be taking leadership of such an involved chapter of the
Verizon Foundation Pioneers. Over the past year you, the members of the
Wm. J Denver Chapter, have volunteered thousands of hours in your
communities to better the lives of those around you and often those who
are less fortunate. I sincerely thank you for this. We cover 250 Cities
and towns west of Rte 128 in Massachusetts all the way to the
Berkshires, as far north as Vermont & NH and south in Mass to
Attleboro/Mansfield area and the entire state of RI. That is a huge area
and we represent it well.
The
year 2010 is sure to be a challenge. With the state of the economy the
way it is, we will undoubtedly have obstacles to overcome in the coming
years. By working together and keeping our visions solid I am sure we
can handle anything that comes our way. I am looking forward to
continuing our relationship with organizations such as New Hope,
Springfield Forward, Beanies for Balaad and FOCus to name a few. I am
also hoping to forge new relationships with any other non-profits we
find in need. I would like to see each club/member embrace a new face
or group that we haven’t helped before. Whether it is a school, social
service organization, park or nursing home -- it doesn’t matter who. We
want them know who The Verizon Foundation Pioneers are and that we are
here to help.
Finally, I
encourage each and every one of you to continue to volunteer. If you
haven’t had the opportunity to volunteer yet, just ask. We will help
you to become involved if you choose. Please explore our website and
suggest it to others who you think would be interested in what we do or
are in need of help in the community.
