Valentines Day

On February 14th, Joan Carney, Jenn Bergeron and myself visited the Soldier's Home in Holyoke to present Beverly Blanchard, the Volunteer Services Coordinator with $408.00 in phone cards that were requested by Ms.Blanchard to help veterans stay in contact with family and loved ones. While we were there we also visited veterans and several of their spouses in the recreation room on the third floor to give out Valentines cards. The Valentine cards were made by the fourth grade class of Mrs. Quezada at the Center School in Stow Ma.. The children wanted to do something special for our soldiers and sailors during National Hospitalized Veterans Week. Their cards were well received and it was a privilege to deliver them for the fourth grade team of Mrs. Quezada.
After our visit at the Soldier's Home we then went to the Veteran's Medical Center in Leeds Ma. to present to Mr. Peter Galante, the Voluntary Program Officer with a Nintendo Wii system. The system allows them to use it as a game for entertainment and for use as a physical rehab tool. The system is very much in demand in stores so the staff were surprised and happy to receive one.      view more photos                story and photos submitted by Jim Crosbie
