Cast for KidsOn August 25, 2007 volunteers from the Verizon TelecomPioneers, Wm. J. Denver Chapter's Providence Club supported the 2nd annual C.A.S.T For Kids Day held at Roger Williams Park in Providence R.I.
The recipients for this day were from A Wish Come True. Inc. (www.awish.org).
Pioneers supplied food and drinks for 200 attendees of the event. Volunteers from the Providence Club purchased school supplies and filled goody bags for each of the children. Other club volunteers took pictures of the families and made them into buttons, which each child proudly wore during the day. C.A.S.T. also gives each child a fishing a rod & reel, tackle box, shirt and hat.
Pioneers took a picture of each child with their new fishing gear which was mounted onto a trophy plaque donated by C.A.S.T. Although it was extremely hot, 104 heat index, everyone had a great time and Pioneers look forward to supporting this event in 2008. "It is an event that will warm your heart", said Carol Baker, Providence Club President and project coordinator. "To see the excitement on the faces of each family as they experience a day of fishing together, receive a picture of the days' event and their gifts from C.A.S.T and Pioneers, is more than words can describe.   view more pics...                                     Submitted by: Carol Baker, Pres.
