Fifteen
current and five new Pioneers got together to participate in
Verizon's Domestic Violence Awareness month "Brighter
Tomorrows" backpack project.
This project, in conjunction with a Pioneer membership drive, brought
together current and new Pioneers during the lunch hour to put together
the packs. Individuals who signed up for the project a week earlier, we
given a $20 Walmart Gift Certificate and a list of items to shop for.
A donation box was also available for anyone wishing to participate.
Donations came from offices as far away as Lowell.
On October 16, the volunteers came together to put the packs together and
enjoy a light lunch provided by the Pioneers as a way of demonstrating
fellowship and Thanks for their efforts. It gave everyone an
opportunity to get to know each other better and to talk about future
projects like the one they just participated in. Everyone was
excited to learn about the upcoming Thanksgiving and Pajama program
projects and many have signed up already to participate. Officer
Martha Shea came to the office and accepted the bags on behalf of the
Marlboro Police Domestic Violence department. Volunteers took bags
and will deliver them to Ashland, Framingham, Blackstone, Northboro and
Southboro Police departments. This project provided the volunteers the
flexibility to shop on their own time, and work on the project during
their lunch hour. The Denver Chapter is most appreciative of their time
and effort on this project. We look forward to working with everyone on
future projects. view
