Book signing to benefit Soldiers Home in Holyoke - The author is Annmarie Hickey Georgopolis, a Verizon retiree.  Ms. Georgopolis' children's book, An American Flag for Their Father, was available at the December Pajama Party and Scholastic Book Fair and was signed by the author.  The story follows a young brother and sister working to earn money to purchase a "super sized" flag for their father's homecoming from a deployment with the Army Reserves in the Middle East.
The story follows the children's efforts and those they touch along the way. The story is set locally at their Grandparents cottage on Plum Island, MA, and is based on the experiences of her brother's children who waited for their father to return from Iraq.  Their father, Lieutenant Colonel Marty Hickey, is a Verizon employee and Army Reservist.
