Memory Ride 2004 is over
and what a success it was. This was a chapter project that our
council coordinated with the Alzheimer's Bike-A-Thon team. We prepared
dinner for 175 hungry bikers and volunteers alike. This year the biker’s
collectively brought in over $200,000 for Alzheimer's research and all of
the monies collected are going directly to this research thanks to the
many volunteers this year including the William J. Denver TelecomPioneers.
This year the biker’s rode from Vermont to Boston with the Midpoint at
Fitchburg High school where all of the volunteers were happily making
sandwiches and dinner. Preparing 175 chicken primavera dinners could not
have been done without the expertise of Aharona Cooper, Pioneer Partner,
who let all of the volunteers know just what to do and how to get the
dinner out in a timely manner for all the hungry bikers to enjoy.
As the bikers went through the line to get dinner, each one received a
Verizon hat donated by Verizon State President Donna Cupelo. We also
served pizza for lunch on Saturday and prepared 200 sandwiches for
lunch-to-go on Sunday. A big thank-you goes out to all who helped make
this a successful event. |
