Vernon Baker, Pioneer Partner of Carol Baker was presented with a Jefferson Award in January by Rhode Island Channel 10.  Jefferson Awards are presented to citizens who do outstanding work in their community.  Vernon volunteers for the Abused Woman's Shelter by being a court advocate and escorting and translating for these abused women.  He takes language courses at Brown University.  He has been asked to work for the Shelter but enjoys his volunteer position.
